Casey Batten has practiced sports medicine in clinical and athletic team settings for more than a decade. He has served as a medical staff member for several major athletic events, including the 2017 World Baseball Classic and the 2014 United States Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A former Head Team Physician for the University of California - Berkeley and current Lead Team Physician for the Los Angeles Rams, Casey Batten also serves as Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine and the Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles.
Active in his professional community, Casey Batten serves as medical advisor to the Northern California Concussion Coalition and chairs a subcommittee of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine's (AMSSM's) membership committee. He conducts peer reviews for several clinical journals, including the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine and the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance. He also is co-principal investigator in a study on pre- and post-concussive functions in college athletes.
Casey Batten stands out as an experienced professional educator and speaker, having most recently shared his expertise at the 26th meeting of the AMSSM and as a instructor for the SonoSite Visual Medicine-MSK Ultrasound Course. He has served as a course developer and chair on several occasions, and is a former Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at UCSF.
